Oral Sex Diseases: Some of the Risks Involved in Sexual Activity in Teens

One of the main reasons why a lot of teenagers engage in sex is because of peer pressure. A lot of teens crave for the approval of their peers and a lot of them believe that the best way to be popular is by engaging in some form of sex.
There are also a huge number of teenagers that believe that oral sex is a safe alternative in terms of both pregnancy and contracting some sort of STD or sexually transmitted disease. However, recent statistics have proven otherwise. Herpes, gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and HIV are just some of the oral sex diseases one could get from performing or receiving oral sex.

The Risks Involved

Aside from the actual giving and receiving part, there are basically two types of oral sex. The first one involves penis to oral contact which is more commonly known as the blowjob. The one giving the blowjob runs the risk of contracting various STD’s because of his or her contact to both the pre-cum or the pre-ejaculate, as well as the actual cum or semen. Most cold or open sores can be a venue for certain bacteria or viruses to enter one’s bloodstream and cause the infection. This also holds true for the one receiving the blowjob as any infection from his partner’s mouth could come in contact with any cut, sore, or scratch on the penis.

The second type of oral sex involves vagina to oral contact. It’s pretty much the same concept here as the person sucking or licking his or her partner’s vagina could come in contact with vaginal fluids that could be infected. This is also the case for the receiver as she too can become infected by any bacteria from her partner’s mouth. Although oral sex diseases may not be as common as compared to anal or vaginal sex diseases, it is still a likely possibility that teens should be wary of.   GP
